Homemade Salisbury Steak

January 18, 2024

I never thought that this would be one of my favorite meals as an adult! That’s because before trying this recipe I had only ever had the frozen TV dinners and I DID NOT like them! But thankfully, the good ol internet led me to this recipe several years ago and I absolutely love it! The meat is so moist and tender and the gravy is so full of flavor. When you are in need of a great comfort food dish, then I highly recommend trying this Homemade Salisbury Steak recipe!

How to Make Homemade Salisbury Steak

Homemade Salisbury Steak

First, add all of your ingredients into a large bowl. The full recipe is listed below on the recipe card.

Then you want to give it a good mix, but do not overmix. I prefer to use my hands,. but you can also use a hand mixer or stand mixer.

Once you have it mixed, divide it into 4 equal parts and form it into patties.

Next, you will cook the patties in a skillet. This will take about 5 minutes per side. Once they are finished, take them out and set them aside.

Then you will add in the onions, mushrooms and minced garlic and cook them until they are a beautiful golden brown.

Time To Make the Gravy

Homemade Salisbury Steak

To make the gravy, stir in some all purpose flour, then slowly stir in some beef broth, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Then stir it continuously over low heat until it thickens up.

Add the burger patties back in and cover with the gravy. Put the lid back on and cook for 5 more minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with some chopped fresh parsley if desired.

What to serve with it

I feel like Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes are an absolute must for this dish! But rice would also be good. Or you could serve it on white bread as an open-faced sandwich. A vegetable and a dinner roll are also perfect companions!
