How To Make Sloppy Joes on Garlic Toast
Brown 1 lb of ground beef with 1/4 cup of diced onions, 1/4 cup of a diced green bell pepper and 3-4 minced garlic cloves. When the meat is fully cooked, drain off the excess grease. (This is optional, just a personal preference!)
Next, stir in 1 tbsp of tomato paste, 8 oz of tomato sauce, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 cup of ketchup and 2 tbsp of brown sugar. Season with salt and pepper and let simmer on low for about 10 minutes.
Prepare an 8-count box of Texas toast according to the package directions. use a large spoon to press down the middle of the bread. (This will make a small “bowl” and help keep the filling in place.)
Fill each one evenly with the meat mixture then top with grated cheese. Use any flavor you like, I use sharp cheddar. Then put them back in the oven just until the cheese is melted. Serve hot and enjoy!
These pair well with whatever side dish you like! Some French fries and a green vegetable are a great choice!
