What You Will Need to Make these Easy Beef and Noodles

  • 6 ounces of egg noodles: The star of our dish, these noodles provide the perfect base for soaking up the savory gravy.
  • 1 pound of ground beef: A flavorful and filling choice that forms the heart of the recipe.
  • 1 diced onion: This adds a subtle sweetness and depth to the dish.
  • 3 cloves of garlic (minced): For that aromatic touch that elevates the flavor profile.
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce: This ingredient adds a tangy umami kick.
  • 1 teaspoon of Umami seasoning blend: To enhance the flavors of the beef and noodles.
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning: A hint of herbs to round out the dish.
  • 2 tablespoons of butter: For richness and flavor.
  • ¼ cup of flour: To thicken the gravy and give it that luscious texture.
  • 2 cups of beef broth: The base of our gravy, adding depth and richness.
  • Salt and pepper to taste: Essential for seasoning.
  • Dried parsley for garnish: A sprinkle of color and freshness.

How to Make Easy Beef and Noodles

This is just a summary, the full recipe is below. Begin by bringing a pot of water to a boil. I like to stir in a spoonful of beef bouillon but salt will work just as well. Add the egg noodles and cook them according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Once done, drain them and stir in 2 tablespoons of butter while they’re still warm. This will keep them from sticking and add a nice flavor.

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Do not drain the grease!

When it is cooked, stir in the Worcestershire sauce, Umami Seasoning, Italian Seasoning and salt and pepper. Mix well.

Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir well for a few minutes. This step is crucial as it helps create a thick, hearty gravy. Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring continuously to avoid any lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and allow it to thicken, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Once the gravy has thickened to your liking, gently fold in the buttered noodles. Ensure they are well coated with the rich gravy. Taste your dish and season with salt and pepper as needed. Serve hot, garnished with a sprinkle of dried parsley for a touch of color.

Easy Beef and Noodles

This is great as a stand alone dish but I have always liked to pair it with hot buttered corn and some simple bread and butter. But any vegetable will go great. And some dinner rolls or cornbread would be great options too.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Extra Wide Egg Noodles
  • 2 tbsp Salted Butter
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Yellow Onion, Diced
  • 3 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Umami Seasoning if you can't find this it is fine to omit it
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/4 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 2 Cups Beef Broth
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Dried Parsley optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the noodles until al dente. I like to add some beef bouillon to the water but salt works just as well.
  • When they are finished, drain them and stir in the 2 tbsp of butter while they are still warm.
  • While the noodles are cooking, brown the ground beef, onion and garlic in a skillet over medium high heat. When it is finished, do not drain the grease.
  • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, Umami seasoning, Italian seasoning and salt and pepper.
  • Sprinkle the flour in and cook that down for 4-5 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  • Slowly stir in the beef broth, stirring constantly. Once you have it all stirred in turn the heat to low and let it thicken up.
  • Gently fold in the cooked noodles. Season with salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Keep leftovers in the fridge for 3-4 days. keep in mind that the noodles will soak up a lot of the sauce as they continue to sit. They will also break down quite a bit. This won’t affect the taste, only the appearance.
Reheat on the stove in a saucepan over low heat or in the microwave.
I do not recommend freezing as this changes the texture of the noodles too much. You could freeze the sauce and make the noodles just before serving!

Made this for dinner tonight and we all loved it! I didn’t have the umami seasoning so I added onion powder, garlic powder, more Italian seasoning and black pepper. I also added white pepper! Will definitely make again! Can’t wait to try more of your recipes!
