I love recreating restaurant items! Usually they are ones that I have tried and liked. But the inspiration for these came from the Pizza Hut commercials that I had been constantly seeing for a new item they were promoting called pizza melts. And even though, they are different in the fact that I used tortillas instead of pizza dough, I can honestly say that they were absolutely delicious! I was also able to make 8 of these for the price you would pay for probably 2 if you were to order them from the restaurant!
Ingredients
The ingredients are pretty simple and just basic pizza toppings as well as a few other items. The great thing is that you can customize these to your liking, so feel free to add (or take away) whatever you like!
For ours, I browned up some Italian sausage along with some diced red and green bell peppers and some chopped up pepperoni.
The pepperoni is not shown in the picture because I just happened to find it in the fridge while I was preparing these and added at the last minute.
In a separate skillet, I melted about 1 tsp of butter over medium heat. I placed a flour tortilla in there and covered it with some freshly grated mozzarella cheese.
I then added some of the meat mixture to half of it.
Then I folded it over, then once again and used my spatula to press down on it to ensure that the cheese melted all the way through.
Repeat this process until you have used up all of your ingredients!
When they were finished I sliced them up and sprinkled parmesan cheese on them. We used some marinara sauce for dipping.
