Easter Dirt Cake

This Easter Dirt Cake is not only delicious, but it is easy to make. And super fun for the kids to get involved with! It is a no-bake cake, so you don’t even have to turn the oven on. It has a bottom layer of crushed Oreos, with a creamy pudding-filled center. Topped with another layer of crushed Oreos! If you need a festive piece, it is very pretty too! And since there is such a variety of Easter candies now, the ideas for toppings are endless! And if you need some great Easter side dishes, check these out while you are here!

How To Make Easter Dirt Cake

oreos

This is just a summary. The full recipe is down below. Start by crushing up the Oreos. The easiest way to do this is with a food processor. If you don’t have one, put them in a large baggie and pound them with a rolling pin or something else heavy. Place half of them in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish.

Next, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth, then mix in the powdered sugar. Fold in the whipped topping. Don’t worry if it is a bit lumpy, it is normal. Set that aside.

In a separate bowl, mix the pudding and milk. DO NOT use the kind of pudding you have to cook. It will not set up right. Use instant. And any flavor will work. I just prefer the vanilla. Once it is slightly thickened, add it to the cream cheese mixture and mix it until smooth. Spread that on top of the Oreos in the baking dish.

Spread the remainder of the Oreos on top of the pudding layer. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow it to firm up. Once it has been refrigerated, top it with the Easter candies of your choice. I used edible grass, Peeps and chocolate Easter Eggs.

Notes

This cake can be made up to 2 days in advance. Cover it tightly and store it in the fridge. Top with the candies when ready to serve.
I do not recommend freezing this as the pudding center will become runny when it thaws.
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
