Put a fun and tasty new twist on pizza night by using a box of Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix as the crust! It is simple, and quite delicious! We were wanting some pizza the other night, and I usually make homemade pizza because we have limited options for delivery. I did not have anything to make a crust with, but I saw this biscuit mix sitting in the pantry, so I thought I would give it a whirl! I am SO GLAD I DID! It turned out amazing! The crust was crispy and full of flavor and it will definitely be something I make again and again!

What Toppings Can Be Used?
You can choose your toppings based on your own taste preferences! The sky is the limit! We are pretty simple when it comes to pizza and we usually do sausage, pepperoni and jalapenos. But homemade taco pizza is another one of our faves! The next time I use this crust, I think I will try a seafood combo! Like I said, be creative as you want! It is your pizza!
What Is Needed to Make it?
- 11.36 oz box of Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix
- 14 oz jar or Pizza Sauce
- 4-6 Cups of Mozzarella Cheese
- Your Favorite Pizza Toppings
How To Make It:
Follow the directions on the back of the box as you would for making the biscuits. Mix that together until a sticky dough forms. Spread it out onto a 10×15 greased rimmed baking sheet. The dough is really sticky so I put oil on my hands to spread it out. You may need to reapply the oil a few times!
Next, you will mix together 1/2 stick of butter with the seasoning packet that comes in the box and you will brush that on top of the crust.
For the next part, you will either put it in a preheated 425 degree oven for about 8-10 minutes. Or you can use a grill like I did. (It was a scorching 100+ degrees outside the day that I made this and I did not want to turn my oven on!) This is an important step because without doing this you will end up with a soggy crust!
And now it is time to add the toppings! As I said, get as creative as you want! I went with pizza sauce, mozzarella, Italian sausage, pepperoni and jalapenos! But the sky is the limit here!
And finally it will go back in the oven/grill for another 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is nice and golden brown and bubbly! You also want to check to make sure that the crust is nice and crispy. And that is all there is to it!
You want to allow it to cool and set for about 5 minutes or so and then you can dig in!

My family loved it! We used two boxes of the mix so it wasn’t as hard to spread the dough. We will definitely make this again. YUM!

Did you double the water and cheese or only the mix?

Hi christina! Thank you for your rave review! I am so glad your family loved it!

The flavor is good but it’s to dry. It over powers the toppings and can’t taste them. It wasn’t horrible but wouldn’t make it again.

Cece, I am so sorry the recipe didn’t work out for you. but I appreciate your honest review!

This recipe was super easy to follow, but yes spreading the biscuit dough was challenging. I just continued to get my hands covered in oil very time it started to stick to me. Also my kids devoured it and wanted to know when the next time we can make it. Thank you for this idea I would have never brought to the table!

Hi Ashley! Spreading the dough was definitely a bit of a challenge but I am glad you were able to get it done! And I love hearing that the kids loved it so much! thank you for letting me know!

The dough is much easier to spread if you put it in the middle of a pan Pat it down with a piece of parchment paper on top of the dough and then use a small roller or a can of beans and it rolls out easy and does not stick to the parchment paper.

Great idea Stephen! Thank you for sharing!

I was excited to try this recipe. I followed the directions, only difference is I used parchnent paper with a light spray of oil and covered the pan to spred out the dough. Worked great! I personally didn’t care for it. The crust is too dry, biscuit dry.

No. It’s a big NO. don’t do this. Think about a biscuit as pizza crust and then realize, wrong texture, just wrong and you know it as soon as you bite into and the biscuit clogs your mouth just being a biscuit. NO.
Pizza crust isn’t so hard that you resort to this terrible terrible idea.

I was ready to love this recipe so I got everything I needed to make 2 pizzas for dinner. It wasn’t as great as I’d hoped. First, the dough was really hard to spread onto the pan because it just sticks no matter what you do. I did the best I could and then I spread the butter topping on it. Once the butter topping was on it I was able to spread the dough MUCH easier and got into a better shape. I cooked it exactly as printed in the instructions. It came out cooked all the way through, which was good because I had been worried about it being undercooked. The problem was that the crust was impossible to hold and eat. It breaks and crumbles when you try to eat it. It was a little better after it cooled off for 10 or 15 min but it was still crumbly. This wasn’t ideal in my opinion because pizza is meant to be eaten with your hands! Instead of making a second one of these I just made a pizza with regular pizza dough. Overall, I like the taste and all of the pizza got eaten. But the dough is hard to work with and it’s hard to eat. I’d like to try it in a casserole dish with pizza toppings and eat it with a fork.
