Cheesy Tater Tots with BBQ Smoked Sausage

October 26, 2022

This is quite possibly the easiest recipe you will find on this website. It is one of those dishes that I threw together on a whim on one of those nights when I just didn’t feel like cooking. It turned out absolutely delicious and is now a regular item on our dinner rotation. It does require a few minimal steps, but when you need something quick, easy and delicious, this checks all the boxes! You really do need to give this one a try! I have had great feedback on it from my video that I posted on TikTok, which I will link below.

First you will prepare a 32 oz bag of frozen tater tots according to the package. If you can find these Onion flavored tots, I highly recommend them. Of course, regular tots will work just as great!

Throw them in the oven and start preparing your smoked sausage.

This is the brand I used in this recipe, but literally any brand will work.

Slice them up and cook them in a hot skillet with 1 tbs of butter.

Cook them until they are nice and crispy and caramelized. After doing this, drain the excess grease onto a paper towel if desired.

Mix in about half of a bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce and remove from the heat.

Take tater tots out of the oven and cover them with a layer of cheddar cheese and put them back in the oven for about 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Layer the BBQ smoked sausage on top and serve it up! Feel free to top with any additional desired toppings as well.
