Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef Ground turkey, chicken or pork will also work
  • 12 oz Linguine Pasta Spaghetti or Fettuccine also work great
  • 2 cups Pasta Water, reserved from cooking the pasta in
  • 4-5 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Ginger Paste or 1 teaspoon dried ginger
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 pinch Red pepper flakes optional, use only for a slight hint of spice
  • 3 tbsp Hoisin Sauce I have never used anything for a substitute but a quick google search says BBQ is good as a substitute
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Cold Water
  • 2-3 Green Onions, sliced optional as garnish
  • 1-2 tsp Sesame Seeds optional as garnish

Instructions

  • Start cooking your pasta in some salted boiling water. Cook to al dente according to the directions on the package. Reserve 2 cups of the water before draining them.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the minced garlic. Drain excess grease if needed.
  • Stir in the ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, hoisin sauce and black pepper.
  • Mix the water and cornstarch together. Stir it into the meat and allow it to simmer for a couple of minutes to thicken up.
  • Stir in 1 cup of the pasta water and the cooked and drained pasta. Stir really well until everything is incorporated and the sauce sticks to the pasta. (Last time I made this I ended up using another 1/2 cup of the pasta water. It will depend on how thick you want it to be.)
  • Garnish with the sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
