Cowboy Baked Beans

These are the perfect side dish for cookouts or great for a meal all on their own!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Bacon, chopped into small pieces
  • 1 lb Ground Beef, or any ground meat of your choice
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 Yellow Onion, Diced
  • (2) 28 oz Cans of any flavor Baked Beans
  • 1 Cup Any flavor BBQ Sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Honey Dijon Mustard
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar

Seasonings

  • 1 tbs each Garlic Powder, Onion Powder and BBQ Rub

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until nice and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside. Drain all of the grease
  • In the same skillet, brown the ground beef with the onions and peppers. Drain the grease and season with the spices listed above.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • You can use the same dish if it is oven safe and large enough. If not follow the next steps.
  • In a 9x13 baking dish, pour in the baked beans and the rest of the ingredients, including the cooked bacon and ground beef. Stir everything together really well.
  • Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Notes

Slow Cooker Instructions: Follow recipe but transfer everything to the slow cooker and cook on high for 2-3 hours or low for 3-4 hours. 
Smoker Instructions: Follow recipe but smoke at 225 degrees for about 2 hours.
